1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Typewriter application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Typewriter is a family storytelling platform that allows users to:

Create and organize family stories and memories
Record voice notes for transcription
Generate audiobook narrations from written content
Share content with family members
Export and preserve family history

3. Account Registration

Account Types

Guest Account: Limited trial access for 24 hours. Maximum 3 guest accounts per device.
Permanent Account: Full access via Google, Apple, or email authentication. Maximum 5 accounts per device.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
All activities that occur under your account
Providing accurate account information

4. User Content

Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you create, including stories, text, images, and voice recordings. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content.

License to Us

By using the App, you grant us a limited license to:

Store and process your content to provide the service
Generate transcriptions from your voice recordings
Create audiobook narrations from your text
Display your content to users you choose to share with

Content Guidelines

You agree not to upload or create content that:

Is illegal, harmful, or violates others' rights
Contains malware or malicious code
Infringes on intellectual property rights
Is fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading

5. Service Usage Limits

To ensure fair usage, certain features have limits:

Voice Messages: Daily limits apply to voice recording features
Audiobook Generation: Limited to 1 audiobook per week
Guest Accounts: 24-hour trial period, 3 per device

6. Intellectual Property

The Typewriter App, including its design, features, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not:

Copy, modify, or distribute the App
Reverse engineer or decompile the App
Use our trademarks without permission

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including:

Firebase (Google) for authentication and storage
ElevenLabs for voice generation
Apple and Google for sign-in services

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and conditions.

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

9. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

We are not responsible for:

Data loss due to technical issues (please maintain backups)
Accuracy of AI-generated transcriptions or narrations
Third-party service outages or issues

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the App.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings. Upon termination:

Your access to the App will be revoked
Your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
These Terms will survive where applicable

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the State of California.
